Flinders Medical Centre upgrade and expansion

• $498 million to upgrade and expand Flinders Medical Centre and the Repat Health Precinct in partnership with the Albanese Labor Government.
• 160 more hospital beds across FMC and the Repat Health Precinct, including:
  Flinders Medical Centre
• Refurbishment of a non-clinical area, with construction now underway on a new 20-bed inpatient ward dedicated to specialised older person’s beds.
• Expansion of FMC and $10.7 million for extra MRI and CT scanners and a new imaging suite. Construction has been completed as of November.
• A new 12-bed Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) in a major redevelopment to the Margaret Tobin Centre, with construction to start in coming months.

Repat

• A new purpose-built 26-bed Geriatric Evaluation and Management (GEM) Unit, co-located with a further six beds for the re-location of the Complex and Restorative (CARE) Service. These beds are already under construction to be delivered in the second half of this year.

Noarlunga Hospital upgrade

• $74 million upgrade of Noarlunga Hospital, the largest capital investment in the hospital’s history. This will deliver 24 medical inpatient beds and 24 beds mental health rehabilitation beds, expanding the hospital’s inpatient capacity by more than 50%. This is part of our government’s commitment to 72 more mental health beds in metropolitan Adelaide.
• Opened a new $2.8 million 12-chair renal unit in September, allowing 12 more people a day to access treatment in Noarlunga.

New Ambulance Station at Edwardstown

• A new $8 million ambulance station on the corner of the Repat Health Precinct, which will house the existing Edwardstown paramedics and the new 16 paramedics that came online in November 2022 (note – these are Marion/Edwardstown paramedics).
• Construction is scheduled to finish in December 2024.

Upgrade to the Marion Ambulance Station

• $2 million is currently budgeted for an upgrade, with the station accommodating the new 16 paramedics that came online in November 2022, on top of the existing 30 paramedics already on site (note – these are Marion/Edwardstown paramedics).
• An additional 12 ambos will join the Marion/Edwardstown crews in July 2024

24/7 Pharmacy

• We are supporting three pharmacies across Adelaide including Chemist Warehouse Clovelly Park to open their doors 24/7 providing medication and care when South Australian families most need it and helping to reduce pressure on hospitals.

Urgent Care Clinics (UCCs)

• The Federal Government is partnering with the Malinauskas Government to open five Medicare UCCs in SA, with two in the southern suburbs – the Marion UCC and Morphett Vale UCC.
