Michael Brown was born in the Northern suburbs and resides in Florey with his wife and their three daughters.
After starting work as a busboy at age 15, Michael went on to a successful career as a professional in the IT sector and as an adviser to government on economic development. He also spent six years as State Secretary of South Australian Labor, after which he served as the Chief Executive of an Adelaide law firm and as Chief of Staff to the Minister for Communities and Social Inclusion.
Michael was elected as the Member for Playford in March 2018 and, following an electoral redistribution, was elected in March 2022 as the Member of Florey.
It has been Michael’s privilege to serve on a number of Parliamentary Committees, including as the Chair of the Select Committee on Artificial Intelligence and as a member of the Committee on the Establishment of Adelaide University. His current membership includes the Legislative Review Committee, the Public Works Committee and the Statutory Officers Committee.
As a former IT professional, Michael has a particular interest in technology and Artificial Intelligence, particularly with regard to their role in economic development and their social impact. In his spare time, Michael enjoys reading a good book and spending quality time with his family.
