James was born and raised in Tanunda, the eldest of three boys. His family have lived in the Barossa for over seven generations.
He attended Redeemer Lutheran School in Nuriootpa and later Nuri High School. During his schooling years, James played for the Tanunda Magpies (no premierships!) and got his first job in a local cafe at the age of 14.
As a young working person, James was inspired to join the Labor Party by the Scott Morrison Liberal Government’s attacks on working rights. He believed that Labor was fighting for better outcomes and for workers, especially younger people.
James is running for the seat of Barker because he feels that the electorate has been largely neglected by the Liberal Party despite holding the seat for so long. He wants to connect with the community and give people a real choice at the next election.
He currently is studying at University and works part-time at two local hospitality venues.
