Growing up in a single parent family in the south western suburbs of Adelaide, Katrine understands the importance of being part of a community that is connected and inclusive, that supports and empowers everyone.
Katrine is driven by a visceral sense of fairness and deeply believes in equality of opportunity. She strives to amplify community members’ voices, especially those who most need to be heard.
For most of her working life, Katrine has fought to improve the lives of South Australians. As Australian Services Union SA/NT Branch Secretary, Katrine worked collectively to help secure equal pay for thousands of community workers. For those efforts, she received the Australia Day ‘Women Hold Up Half the Sky’ Award. She is also listed on the South Australian Women’s Honour Roll.
Katrine was the inaugural Chief Executive Officer of Together SA and is a Flinders University, Australian Institute of Company Directors and Governor’s Leadership Foundation graduate.
Since 2014, Katrine has been the Member for Reynell. Katrine is the \ Minister for Women and Domestic Violence Prevention, Minister for Sport, Recreation and Racing, Minister for Child Protection and Minister for Arts.
She served as Minister for Disabilities, Minister Assisting the Minister for Sport and Recreation and Assistant Minister to the Premier in the Weatherill Labor Government.
Katrine lives in the south with her family where she is involved in many community activities. She loves time with family and friends, at the beach, including patrolling with Christies Beach Surf Lifesaving Club. She is also an avid park runner/walker, local footy commentator, live music and sport fan and amateur theatre enthusiast.
